How Commercial Domestic Hot Water Heat Pumps Work

A commercial domestic hot water heat pump uses a compressor, evaporator, condenser and refrigerant circuit to transfer heat energy from the air into the stored water. Because the system moves existing heat rather than producing all of its heat through electrical resistance, it can achieve substantially higher operating efficiency than a direct electric immersion heater.

Some systems also incorporate electric immersion heaters or can operate alongside supplementary heat sources to provide additional heating capacity, higher stored water temperatures or backup heating when required.
